My investigative team used multiple hidden cameras, exhaustive surveillance and effective unscheduled interviews to expose an astonishing "non-profit religious institution" to, according to federal prosecutors, scam hundreds of illegal immigrants out of millions of dollars - at least $1400 cash per person - in exchange for bogus US citizenship documents.

 

"Citizenship For Sale" won a national IRE certificate, an 11-state regional SPJ award, a state AP "Best Of Show" trophy, a regional Emmy and more.

 

After our story aired, the perpetrator was arrested, convicted in federal court and sentenced to prison. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash was confiscated and returned to cooperating victims.
