Impact Investigation: A Seeping Threat

"A Seeping Threat" is an investigation into highly controversial large scale dairy operations and the challenge with protecting nearby ground water from the enormous amounts of manure they generate. While the issues here could apply to many diary regions across the country, this story focused on Whatcom County, Washington where a powerful industry was butting heads with the state's Department of Ecology which is mandated to enforce the US Clean Water Act. After broadcasting the story, to which the industry fiercely objected, there was new cooperation between some dairies and the affected tribe as well as administrative action by the EPA and state regulators.
